Cost Sharing Department

Understanding our clients’ goals and aiding them in achieving those goals from a cost sharing perspective is our primary focus.

For decades, Schaeffers has helped land development groups and individual developers in cost sharing matters. Such services have included participation in initial formation of equitable cost sharing principles of community use land and infrastructure, together with lawyers of Cost Sharing Agreements (CSA); preparation and ongoing management of cost sharing schedules for participating and non-participating landowners; issuance of certificates for trustee’s release for registration of development events; and final resolution of CSAs.

Schaeffers has also been involved in dealing with municipalities when development groups or individual landowners must address development charges (DC) or front-ending agreements regarding DC related infrastructure. Involvement can range from critiquing overall municipality DC Background Studies to technical support regarding DC issues at registration of a development event.
