From its beginning over 44 years ago, the firm has grown from a small civil engineering company into one of the Greater Toronto area's largest firms for Residential, Commercial and Industrial land development. Our success can be attributed to our client focus, quick turn around, and attention to detail. In the early years of the firm, development projects were typically less than 25 acres in size and were designed, constructed, built-out and assumed in a straight forward manner with minimal Government involvement. Beginning with the 1970's, large land assemblies were created and "new Towns" were conceptualized and realized in many of the suburban municipalities around Metropolitan Toronto. Projects handled by the firm during this stage ranged from 100 to 1,000 acres. Many land holdings were dependent on neighbouring owners and "Developers Groups" were formed to share infrastructure projects which benefited more than one owner. During this period the planning process encouraged input from all agencies and interest groups and developments were required to satisfy all concerns before approvals were forthcoming. The role of the consulting engineer during this period became more extensive and special skills were developed by the firm to handle these complexities. Schaeffers Consulting Engineers now has the experience and knowledge to manage a project through to completion for all project sizes (and phases) and has an extensive list of successful projects both on-going and completed.

Schaeffers Consulting Engineers continues to be involved in the development of residential/industrial subdivision providing services for our clients ranging from Block Plans and feasibility studies to the actual preparation of Servicing Development Agreements to Construction Administration. Numerous other projects have also involved the reconstruction of major roads and relief sub-trunk sewers.
